Carrington Council was first incorporated on 30th March 1887. During World War 2 the council building was used by military authorities. David Owen was one of the Alderman of Carrington Council who was first elected in February 1891 and served as Mayor until 1892, then again from February 1895 until October1895 due to his departure from the district to Western Australia. Carrington Council Chambers has served the council for many years and today is a community centre.
